Boston Celtics Christmas delight No. 3) Jays are hot on the same night

So far this season, health ailments have become a major theme for the Boston Celtics and, perhaps the most significant impact it has had on them has been on one half of the Jays in Jaylen Brown.

From being placed in health and safety protocols after contracting COVID-19 earlier this season to, most recently, dealing with a nagging hamstring injury the All-Star wing has found himself constantly revolving in and out of the rotation and, as a result, has only played in 18 games thus far.

Because of this, the other half of their cornerstone tandem, Jayson Tatum, has been forced to take on a bigger role for the ball club and, while his counting stats on the surface seem to be consistent with his career numbers (25.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and just shy of a block) his efficiency is unequivocally at an all-time low (42 percent shooting from the floor and 33 percent shooting from deep).

Even when he finds himself taking the floor with Brown, he hasn’t been able to tap into that level of efficiency that has turned him into a budding superstar, even when Brown is lighting it up.

In fact, there have only been two instances this year where the Jays have been able to drop 15 or more points on 35 percent shooting from deep, and, in both games, Boston wound up coming away with the win.

With this, the third and final Christmas day delight we’d love to see from the Cs is both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown being hot on the same night, which should be viewed as a likely outcome but, sadly, has yet to be this year.

This team will only go as far as Tatum and Brown will take them and, in this X-mas matchup, Boston will need the duo to show out in order to secure win No. 17 on the year.

Next. 2 trades that would make the Cs have a holly jolly Christmas. dark
