It’s Christmas day, folks, and Boston Celtics fans are likely overjoyed from the presents found under the tree, the quality time spent with loved ones… and oh yea, game day.
While the 2021-22 campaign has certainly been one filled with disappointment and despair for the team’s faithful, the Holiday season is oftentimes considered a period in the year that can certainly prove to uplift people’s spirits, for the feelings of hope and positivity can be felt through every colorful light illuminated, every Carole sung, and every tree dressed to the nines and shown on display.
Now, when it comes to today’s outing against the reigning NBA Champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, we here at HH certainly hope to see some Christmas magic take place and, more specifically, there are 3 X-Mas delights fans would absolutely love to be witnesses to:
Boston Celtics Christmas delight No. 1) The second unit offense steps up
Over the years, one of the most glaring weaknesses found within the rotation for the Boston Celtics has proven to be their bench unit, particularly when it comes to their offensive production.
Because of this, Brad Stevens and co. stepped into action and added some players in the offseason such as Josh Richardson, Juan Hernangomez, and most importantly, Dennis Schroder to try and bolster the scoring punch off the pine.
For a multitude of reasons, their efforts have not been all that successful, for they still find themselves boasting a putrid second unit offense that ranks 27th in points per game, 23rd in field goal percentage, and dead last in offensive rating.
With this, we believe that the first Christmas delight we’d like to see is, to put it bluntly, simply a sign of life from their reserves when on offense.
Now, over the past few games, we have seen glimpses of hope from some players that, for the most part this year, have been rather dormant — particularly sophomore guard, Payton Pritchard, who has posted 12.3 points on 58 percent shooting from the floor and 47 percent shooting from deep over the past several outings — and, as a result, Boston has produced rather well, even though they went on to drop two of their most recent three.
In order to make this happen, guys like Romeo Langford, Aaron Nesmith, and Pritchard need to put their best foot forward and produce up to the levels they’ve proven to be capable of.
