De’Aaron Fox for Jaylen Brown trade? Boston Celtics fans want no part of it
At this point of the season, most Boston Celtics fans are probably just hoping that their team stops being slammed with positive COVID-19 tests. With Joe Johnson, C.J. Miles, Justin Jackson, Norvel Pelle, and Al-Farouq Aminu all being signed to hardship exceptions to fill out the roster for Christmas day, signing the next comeback story seems more relevant than any trades.
But eventually, this surge will stop, and the Cs will need to figure out how to make their roster more viable in the long-term to realistically contend.
Because .500 for yet another year is just not going to cut it, not when the bench can’t keep pace when the starters sit. #27 in second unit scoring is disheartening at best and abhorrent at worst.
Across the worldwide web, you’ve seen/you will be seeing mock trades involving the Boston Celtics 1A superstar Jaylen Brown, and quite frankly, you should take all of them with a grain of salt.
Cs fans took a particular trade scenario involving Brown and De’Aaron Fox personally, though, and let Twitter know about it:
Fox has yet to make an All-Star team and is in danger of seeing his stats decline as the Sacramento Kings continue to put a focus on their recent backcourt draft picks. Tyrese Haliburton may have more upside than Fox, and Davion Mitchell makes sense as his shooting guard partner in crime.
Brown, on the other hand, has been essential since returning, recently lighting up the Cleveland Cavaliers for 34 points following four straight 20+ performances. His sporadic appearances in the lineup has been a big cause for the team’s struggles this season.
If the Houdini were Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens, we’d hang up the phone too if offered this swap. It seems as though many fans would give the person on the other end of the line hell before slamming the phone.
