Boston Celtics dud: Payton Pritchard

When it was announced earlier in the day on Friday that guys like Al Horford, Grant Williams, and, most specifically, Dennis Schroder would be out for the contest, many were under the impression that the C’s somewhat lesser-used commodities such as Aaron Nesmith, Enes Kanter, and Payton Pritchard would be in line for bigger roles which, in turn, could easily wind up leading to better production.

While all three of these aforementioned players certainly did see an uptick in playing time against the Warriors, only the first two wound up putting up serviceable performances, for Pritchard sadly still remained in his sophomore slump despite seeing one of his higher minutes accumulations on the year and his first glimpse of on-court action all month.

In just shy of 13 minutes played, the point guard put up just three assists, one rebound, and zero points on 0-2 shooting, both coming from long-distance, once viewed as arguably his greatest offensive attribute.

Frankly, to us, this performance has simply only further cemented Pritchard’s placement down towards the bottom of Ime Udoka’s rotation once this team gets back to full-strength for, during a night that he had a real opportunity to show out, the second-year pro only managed to underperform.
