Boston Celtics: 1 stud and 1 dud from C’s failed comeback vs. Warriors
By Mark Nilon
To put it simply, December has not proven to be a kind month for the likes of the Boston Celtics despite having shown some quality effort along the way, and Friday night was yet another example of an entertaining output being met with an underwhelming outcome.
Playing the role of host for Golden State, Stephen Curry and co. gave the Cs their fifth loss from their last eight games, with a final score reading 111-107.
Now, while early on this game seemed to be well on its way toward being a blow-out, as Boston saw a 14-point deficit heading into the half, a late-game push wound up making the exhibition worth watching to the final buzzer.
Naturally, a large reason for this second-half comeback attempt was thanks to the impressive play that the team’s All-Stars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, put forth.
Throughout the final two periods, the wings managed to combine for a stellar 30 points and 11 rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 36 percent shooting from deep.
That said, though they may have been the biggest contributors for the shamrocks on the night, there were still quite a few others on the team that played a big role in their surge during the final periods.
Sadly, all this was simply not enough for the Boston Celtics to succeed in their second-half push and now, with this, the team finds itself dropping back down to a sub-.500 record of 14-15 and, in turn, are stationed promptly in the 10th seed out in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Perhaps had a few more players stepped up when it mattered most, the ball club would have managed to complete their rally.
In regard to their most recent defeat, today we at HH pinpoint 1 stud and 1 dud performer from Boston’s failed comeback against Golden State:
