Boston Celtics: BSB misses mark on 3 Jaylen Brown-Grizzlies mock trades
There is a prevailing thought right now that the Boston Celtics are set to split up the ‘Jays’, with Jaylen Brown being the star that many are concocting mock trades for.
The reason for that is Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer claiming that the pair is on the fast track to divergence if things don’t get better this season.
Coming off a win over the Milwaukee Bucks, one of the teams likely in the way during the upcoming postseason in the Eastern Conference, Hardwood Houdini isn’t in any mood to think about trading anyone today.
But we will address different trade scuttlebutt we see…including those that make us question what our eyes are seeing.
That includes our FanSided Grizzlies sister site Beale St. Bears, who came up with three wild mock trades to bring Brown down to Memphis.
Beale St. Bears missed the mark on their mock deals for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown
Judging by these trades, you wouldn’t think that Brown was on his way to his second All-Star selection, which should come to fruition barring more missed time due to injury. The best player the Cs get in any of these deals from the Grizzlies is Dillon Brooks. The overall best player they receive from them is Myles Turner.
That doesn’t get a deal done. At absolutely minimum, Jaren Jackson Jr. would have to be included in any iteration of a deal between the two teams. Ja Morant is the pie-in-the-sky target, and Memphis probably says no.
But Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens likely slams the phone on Zach Kleiman for having the gall to suggest any one of these mock swaps.
It may have to take every asset offered in the trio of trades (Myles Turner, Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, Kyle Anderson, De’Anthony Melton, Tyus Jones, two first-round picks, two second-round picks) to get a deal done.
Ipso facto, consider these mock trades hard passed.
