Boston Celtics dud: Jaylen Brown

Ever since Jaylen Brown came back to the lineup after being sidelined for eight games with a hamstring injury, he’s seemed to look a bit… off.

He has looked a bit slower, in his head, and overall clunky at times throughout each of his past five games which, when considering how well he was playing pre-injury, is quite concerning.

Wednesday was a prime example of his lackluster level of play of late, as he put forth his worst game of the season against the Sixers.

Despite logging the most minutes in an outing since his return (33), Brown only managed to muster up nine points, four rebounds, and three assists on a putrid 27 percent shooting from the floor and 25 percent shooting from deep.

While his start to the game was rather solid, going 50 percent from the floor for five points in the first quarter (one of which was a tough fader), these would be his only points for the entirety of the first half, and he’d only go on to hit one more shot from the field for the rest of the game.

In fact, in the fourth quarter as a whole, it appeared as though Brown was simply looking to hide away in the corner rather than for his own shot, as he had just one attempt from the field.

On the defensive end, he looked just as lethargic, letting up lead passes to cutters and struggling to consistently stick with his assignments, the All-Star was simply outmatched regularly throughout the night.

Arguably the best player on the Boston Celtics, these types of performances are truly discouraging to see. Hopefully, it’s just due to reported conditioning issues for, if it’s continued discomfort from his hamstring, Boston could find themselves having some bigger problems on their hands.
