Boston Celtics use TPE to land depth at the forward position

Long has Kyle Anderson been a suggested trade target for the Boston Celtics, most specifically when it comes to the front office utilizing their luxurious TPEs.

This past summer even, he was seen listed on several occasions as being a quality grab with what remained of the Gordon Hayward exception but, ultimately, they opted to use it in the deal that brought Josh Richardson to town.

Now, we find the Cs in possession of yet another lofty TPE that they could use to finally bring in the forward with the one they received in the Evan Fournier sign-and-trade.

Today, we concocted a way in which the front office could go about doing exactly this.

His current employers, the Memphis Grizzlies, are a team currently in the midst of a youth movement and, while Anderson still may be on the “right” side of 30 and is in fact contributing rather well for the team (8.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game on 40 percent shooting from deep), ultimately his presence on the roster is getting in the way of the development of some of the team’s younger talents in Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams, and Xavier Tillman.

Because of this, the concept of offloading the 28-year-old may in itself be an intriguing thought for Memphis’ front office, and the idea of swapping him for yet another young prospect and perhaps even some draft capital could make for the perfect scenario in their eyes, which is why we believe offering them Grant Williams, a reliable long-range shooting forward still on his rookie deal, and the rights to a future second-round pick could get them to accept a deal with the Cs.

As for Boston, they bring on Kyle Anderson who’s skillset would help improve the team’s floor spacing, defensive production, and overall playmaking be it in a starting role at the four or, what would be the most likely scenario, in a high-usage reserve role.
