Boston Celtics trade target No. 3) Dejounte Murray

Recently, we asked our followers on Twitter what they believed to be the biggest weakness within the rotation for the Boston Celtics, and a popular answer from them seemed to be point guard.

Because of this, we can only believe that B/R’s inclusion of Dejounte Murray on the C’s trade targets list certainly must be a welcoming sight for them to see.

While we may not be under the same impression that the one spot is in dire need of a repair — at least, not yet anyway — we are definitely on board with seeing Stevens and co. pursuing the sensational two-way youngster.

Having himself a phenomenal year with the unfortunately underwhelming San Antonio Spurs, Murray finds himself posting impressive stat-sheet stuffing averages of 18.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, eight assists, and 2.1 steals on 44 percent shooting from the floor.

Citing the fact that Boston has already shown interest in a player like Ben Simmons who would add “more size, distribution, and defense out of the point guard position”, Buckley believes that a guy like Murray could prove to be a player of a similar skillset who could be had at a cheaper cost (i.e. no Jaylen Brown included in a deal).

Not only are we aligned with this aforementioned logic, but we also believe that, if he were to come to Boston, he also would instantly morph into a phenomenal franchise building block (still just 25-years-old) to have running alongside Tatum and Brown for years to come.

Verdict: Pursue
