With Jaylen Brown set to return tonight for the Boston Celtics, the hope is that he and co-star Jayson Tatum can run over the hapless Houston Rockets en route to a third straight win before a pre-Thanksgiving rematch with their 2021 postseason opponent, the Brooklyn Nets.

Well, that’s the immediate hope around these parts, anyway. The hope of several other teams around the league is that the Cs will not find the ‘Jays’ leading the charge to be the best way forward and that Brown could eventually be dangled in trade talks.

Already, his name has been mentioned in a possible Ben Simmons swap, though Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has shut down that somewhat silly rumor.

Do major publications believe that Brown could be dealt in another trade during the 2021-22 season?

Bleacher Report believes the Boston Celtics won’t trade Jaylen Brown anytime soon.

B/R’s Greg Swartz sees Brown’s contract situation as the primary reason Stevens won’t break up his star pairing anytime soon while acknowledging that #7 is nearly untouchable in trade talks at the moment:

"Jaylen Brown is probably as close to as untouchable as a player can be while still popping up in trade rumors, something even team president Brad Stevens felt the need to address with his 25-year-old star. While Boston may eventually want to split up Tatum and Brown if the pair isn’t working, both are under contract until 2023-24 or later. There’s no reason to give up Brown now, not even for Simmons."

Cs fans oughta breathe a sigh of relief that this is the narrative with Brown returning to the lineup tonight with momentum finally in their favor following what should have been two blowout wins over the Los Angeles Lakers (130-108) and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who cut a 25-point deficit to just six by game’s end.

Every NBA fan wants to see a homegrown star bring their team to glory, and the Cs have two drafted a year apart that look fully capable of doing so if they can stick together and continue to overcome adversity together.

This multi-player deal with OKC adds vets to Cs roster. dark. Next
