Boston Celtics: 3 bright spots from C’s disappointing start to 2021-22

Boston Celtics bright spot No. 3) Elite defense
Though the Boston Celtics may look rather lethargic on the offensive end of the floor, they have proven to be absolutely lethal when on the less glamorous side of the ball, especially of late.
Now yes, their first few outings were a bit perplexing to see, as they were rolling out a scheme that looked far more efficient on offense than it did on defense, but as time has passed we’ve seen them somehow pull out the reversal and, in turn, have become one of the more effective defensive squads in the entire league.
Since the page turned to November on the calendar, Boston finds itself boasting the fifth-best defensive rating in the entire league at 102.5, right behind the recently hot Los Angeles Clippers and, on the season as a whole, they are within the top-12 in this category.
Of course, a large reason for why they’ve been so dominant in this aspect of the game is due to the excellence of their fourth-year big man Robert Williams III who, when on the floor, boosts the team’s defensive rating to 103 overall which is good for the sixth-best in the NBA.
While it may be upsetting to see how underwhelming the Cs can be at times when it comes to their offensive production, defensively they’ve been quite stellar.
