Boston Celtics: 3 bright spots from C’s disappointing start to 2021-22
By Mark Nilon
Through the first 15 games of action in 2021-22, it appears as though the Boston Celtics have allowed their pedestrian production from last season to flow right on through as they boast a sub-.500 record of 7-8 and, both from individual and collective aspects, have underperformed greatly.
Because of this, many are worried that this year will see the Cs endure yet another underwhelming fate which, in turn, is viewed as yet another wasted season for their young star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown‘s prime.
However, while it’s easy to point out all the negatives from the team’s production thus far into the season and, in turn, quickly look to hit the panic button, truth be told there are some — albeit, not many — positive takeaways from their play and performances during this first month of action.
In an effort to hold onto our sanity and stay upbeat, today we discuss 3 bright spots from Boston’s start to 2021-22:
Boston Celtics bright spot No. 1) Four of their losses decided by four or fewer points
As we mentioned already, this season has been rather bleak so, honestly, we’ll take positive takeaways from wherever we can and, oddly enough, we see some significant bright spots even from their defeats.
Though no loss is ever a good thing to endure, fans can feel a bit better about half of them considering that literally had one or two things gone their way or had been called correctly by the refs they could realistically be boasting an 11-4 record rather than what they currently have at 7-8.
Of their eight losses, four of them were ultimately decided by four or fewer points.
Now yes, there were a couple of late-game collapses by Boston (ex. their first game against the Cleveland Cavaliers) and some last-second shots made by the opposing ball club (ex. Dallas Mavericks), but at least half of their losses were up for grabs until the final moments.
Standard improvements such as shooting efficiency and simply closing out strong would have been and will be the difference-maker for this team.
