Los Angeles Lakers

The case for the Lakers making a move for Theo Pinson revolves around the purple and gold admitting they have a problem within their wing depth.

While Wayne Ellington and Talen Horton-Tucker both serve a specific role in the offense, relying on Malik Monk for consistency has been nearly impossible and relying on Kent Bazemore in any capacity has been endlessly frustrating.

To Monk’s credit, the John Calipari-coached Kentucky product has had serious boom or bust potential this season, eclipsing 15 points off the pine three different instances in 2021-22. Bazemore has contributed very little offensively despite being a historically competent complementary player.

Pinson would provide more of a sure thing scorer for the Lakers bench as Austin Reaves recovers from a hamstring strain.

Los Angeles Clippers

I listed the Clippers as an ideal landing spot for Pinson before the season started, and I contend that they remain as much to this day.

Kawhi Leonard’s availability this season is up in the air, but the guys left fighting without him are holding down the fort, having won seven in a row before their most recent loss to the Chicago Bulls.

At some point, their luck may run out. Pinson is far from being the cure-all in that hypothetical scenario, but the Clippers have become a team that can make a hero out of a no-name, as the rise of Terance Mann has shown.
