Most Boston Celtics fans want absolutely nothing to do with any trade that sends Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons.

That said, they may be more willing to consider it if it included one of Philly’s best long-range shooters…and the second most efficient volume 3-point shooter in the entire league.

Seth Curry would be the Sixer meeting that criteria and Chowder and Champions’ Owen Crisafulli delivered a scenario that would bring the long-range sniper aboard.

And he wouldn’t be the only dynamite scoring guard coming on board in the deal either:

Like Crisafulli, we’re not 100% sold on the idea of sending the C’s 1A superstar to a heated division rival. That said, this is far from an outlandish offer, and there is justification for why Boston would pull the trigger.

The Boston Celtics become a deeper team with more lineup flexibility

As the league continues to revert back to classic two-big lineups–and in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ case, three-big lineups–the Cs would be shifting back to a small(er) ball setup here.

That’s assuming Ben Simmons would be joining the starting five as a power forward alongside Robert Williams and Jayson Tatum in the frontcourt. In this scenario, Seth Curry joining Marcus Smart in the frontcourt seems like the next logical step.

The bench would then have Al Horford has the primary big, but would also feature two combo-guards with point guard size in Tyrese Maxey and Dennis Schroder.

An unprotected pick from the Sixers would be the cherry on top, considering the lack of pick hoarding Brad Stevens has done compared to Danny Ainge in the past.

Let me reiterate: Hardwood Houdini doesn’t want a Brown-for-Simmons swap. But, if the stars align in that way, this would be the absolute best outcome for the Celtics.
