Rumor has it, the Boston Celtics are in the mood to make some major roster shakeups.

A surprise this buzz is not, for they’ve underwhelmed tremendously through their first 10 games of action as they boast a sub-.500 record of 4-6 and have played an unbelievably sporadic brand of basketball throughout.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Cs were interested in the idea of striking a deal with the 76ers to acquire All-Star guard, Ben Simmons, but it seems as though the asking price may be a bit too steep for Brad Stevens and co., for The Athletic’s Shams Charania stated Philly’s front office would need to have Jaylen Brown coming back in return.

While we at the Houdini are certainly of the same mindset with the notion that swapping these aforementioned All-Stars should be a non-starter for the shamrocks, we’re also of the belief that pursuing a point guard, be it via trade or free agency, could be a solid move for the team to consider pursuing.

Today, we discuss 3 floor generals not named Ben Simmons that the Boston Celtics should consider chasing at some point during this season:

Boston Celtics point guard target No. 1) Dejounte Murray

Perhaps the point guard we most want to see the Boston Celtics trade for this season, and the one we most often found ourselves talking about, Dejounte Murray truly has the potential to be a fantastic fit in the starting lineup whilst running alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

A legitimate Swiss Army talent, the 25-year-old has only improved every year he’s been in the league, and now, in his sixth season, we find him posting career-highs virtually all across the board.

In 34.5 minutes per night, Murray is posting stellar per-game averages of 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 2.2 steals, and half a block.

Unfortunately, however, despite his stellar production, the San Antonio Spurs have not been able to reward his efforts with wins as they are a measly four games under .500 at 3-7, slotting them into the 13th seed out in the Western Conference standings and, in turn, has things somewhat going according to plan as they head towards their inevitable full-fledged franchise rebuild.

A team like the Boston Celtics who could use a bit of everything would likely only flourish with a guy like Dejounte Murray who, well, can do a bit of everything.

If he finds himself back in the “gettable” category (subscription required) at some point this season, the Cs should pounce at the opportunity to try and get him.
