Boston Celtics: CP swaps Jaylen Brown/Aaron Nesmith for Ben Simmons in mock

The Jaylen Brown-for-Ben Simmons Boston Celtics/Philadelphia 76ers blockbuster swap rumors are probably not going anywhere.

That hasn’t stopped publications from coming up with their best mock trades aiming to predict what such a deal would look like, though.

ClutchPoints came up with a package that would bring both Simmons and a future draft pick, but would cost the Cs both Brown and 2020 lottery pick Aaron Nesmith.

Virgil Villanueva explained that this is one of the only deals that would work between the two teams because of temporary restrictions placed on recently signed players:

"1. Jaylen Brown and Aaron Nesmith for Ben Simmons and 2023 First Round PickThis is essentially an expanded Simmons-Brown trade with the addition of some role players and picks. This is the only viable trade package as several players from both teams cannot be traded due to various restrictions specifically for recently traded and recently signed players. Players who were signed in the offseason cannot be traded up until mid-December or mid-January. With that said, if both teams are antsy to pull the trigger in the next few days, then the trade package above will work."

Guys like Juan Hernangomez and Al Horford are not part of the group of guys that are barred from being moved, but the likes of Dennis Schroder, Andre Drummond, and Georges Niang are off the table.

Notable Cs targets, or at least guys that should be, on the Sixers like Tyrese Maxey, Shake Milton, and Matisse Thybulle are also fair game.

Would the Boston Celtics pull the trigger on a Brown for Simmons trade?

This package is nowhere near enticing enough for Boston to bite. Simmons is a step down in the short-term because of his lack of court time in 2021-22, and is probably one in the long-term as well because of his lack of shooting and suspect attitude.
