The Boston Celtics need a reliable shooting wing

Aaron Nesmith is becoming a boom-or-bust option on the wing, either contributing an outburst or a whisper. The latter has been far more frequent. Against the Miami Heat, he had 13 points on 5/8 shooting, knocking down three of his five 3-point attempts. Other than this past Thursday, he has hit just one of his 16 other shot attempts this season.

Romeo Langford, on the other hand, is mostly reliable when on the court…but his reliability of making it onto the hardwood is a frequent question mark.

Meanwhile, Josh Richardson is somewhere in between, both missing games and going absent in games he’s playing in.

It’d behoove Boston to bolster the wing and find a player they can rely on to provide consistent scoring in the second unit. Ideally, a dead-eye shooter from long-range that can complement the starters.

Enter Terrence Ross, whose shooting has declined with direct correlation (and perhaps causation) in relation to the downfall of the Magic the past few seasons. He might be a buy-low candidate given his dreadful shooting in 2021-22. Juancho Hernangomez and other salary fillers and draft compensation is worth exploring for the front office.
