As it turns out, the Boston Celtics are in on the Ben Simmons sweepstakes that has engulfed the Philadelphia 76ers franchise since the start of training camp.

In short, Simmons doesn’t want to be there, and now teams are looking for ways to put together a package that would entice Sixers general manager Daryl Morey enough to pull the trigger on a deal.

Today, a massive twist through the NBA news cycle for a loop, as it turns out that Brad Stevens has contacted Morey about a deal for the unhappy Philadelphia point guard…and it would need to include Jaylen Brown.

Bleacher Report’s Tyler Conway presented a scenario where such a deal could happen straight up:

"Boston would have to add around $1.8 million in salary along with Brown for a Simmons trade to work under the salary cap. Including Bruno Fernando in the deal would essentially allow it to function as a one-for-one swap of budding young stars. (The Sixers would likely waive Fernando because they already have 15 players under contract.)"

This simply would never happen.

What would happen is the Cs getting more from Philadelphia, and these 3 Sixers would need to be on the table:

Possible Boston Celtics acquisition in a Ben Simmons deal #1: Shake Milton

Shake Milton missed the first four games of the 2021-22 season, but has come on strong in his first six games, all wins, in the Sixers lineup this season.

Shooting and distributing the ball well, Milton couldn’t be denied from the starting lineup, and has been a +13 and +6 during his minutes on the floor in his two starts.

Milton owns the third-lowest guaranteed contract on the Philadelphia roster, and would be a no-brainer to ask for in any Simmons deal.
