Boston Celtics dud: Jaylen Brown

In the past, we’ve discussed how we don’t like to list the C’s two All-Stars as being a single game stud for, frankly, it’s just too easy of a choice to make as they’re expected to be the team’s best players.

That said when they play poorly, we’re certainly not afraid to call them out for these types of performances, for the expectation is that they’ll be the driving forces for Boston every night they suit up.

Because of this, we believe it’s acceptable to list Jaylen Brown as Wednesday night’s dud performer as his lackadaisical play and lowly numbers were a major contributor in the team’s ultimate demise.

Logging the most time on the court for the Celtics with just over 37 minutes played, the 25-year-old struggled his way towards putting up 13 points and four rebounds.

Be it due to potential lingering fatigue from his bout with COVID-19 or simply just an off night, but the wing struggled mightily to make an impact with the ball in his hands, falling either too short or chucking it up too strong on his shot attempts (converted on just 31 percent of his field goals and 25 percent of his 3-pointers) while also giving up three turnovers along the way.

We obviously know how great of a player Brown has developed into, so no one should be concerned that his showing from the other night will be an oft-reoccurring theme.

That said, at the very least, it earned him the moniker of the game’s biggest dud performer.
