Boston Celtics takeaway No. 2) Is Grant Williams a sharpshooter?

Third-year power forward Grant Williams seems to have come a long way from his rookie season in regard to his shooting abilities, for, back then, he missed the first 25 three-pointers of his career.

Through the first three games of the 2021-22 season, the 22-year-old finds himself shooting a stellar 9-for-13 from deep and shot a 5-for-7 in Sunday night’s win, giving him a team-high 71.4 percent shooting percentage from distance.

Over his short tenure in the association, Williams has often been criticized by Boston Celtics fans for his lack of offensive production but it seems like he has taken leaps in that department.

The Tennessee product knows that his job on the team is to serve as a role player, and he has decided that his role on offense is to knock down open threes.

Not a bad strategy considering he will likely be left open more often than his teammates and won’t ever be a scoring option in designed plays.

Only time will tell if Williams can maintain this high-end shooting percentage but if he can, he’ll provide the Cs with a reliable option to spot up in the corners when stars Jaylen Brown and/ or Jayson Tatum draw double teams from opposing defenses.
