Boston Celtics trade target No. 1) Colin Sexton

Perhaps the biggest name still on their rookie deal to have been linked as a potential trade target for the Boston Celtics over these past few months, acquiring a guy like Collin Sexton could prove to be a great move for the team to make, as it would have one eye focused on the present and the other on the future.

Heading into his fourth year in the association, the talented guard has been found within the rumor mill all offseason as its been reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers are skeptical about shelling out a sizable extension to the 22-year-old, whose rookie deal still has one year guaranteed on his rookie deal.

Should they continue on with this mindset, and refuse to extend any semblance of an extension for the coming years, they could be inclined to trade him away at some point this coming year instead of potentially losing him for nothing in free agency next offseason.

If it comes to this, the Boston Celtics should strongly be interested in pursuing him for, to us, he’d be an absolute dream target, especially if they can use one of their TPEs on him.

2020-21 proved to be his best season as a pro, as the former eighth overall pick went on to post stellar per-game averages of 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and a steal on 48 percent shooting from the floor and 37 percent shooting from deep.

His arrival would instantaneously improve the C’s backcourt talent pool heading into this season while also giving the team another building block to have run alongside Tatum and Brown moving forward.

During this upcoming campaign, Brad Stevens and co. should monitor Sexton’s situation closely.
