Boston Celtics player No. 2) Dennis Schroder
When the Boston Celtics signed veteran guard, Dennis Schroder, it was somewhat up in the air as to how the team would utilize him during the upcoming season.
While his 2020-21 campaign may have put a damper on his lead guard potential heading into the year, the German-born baller has been a starter in three of the last five seasons and, during this span, has become one of only 16 players in the association to register 6,000 points and 1,500 assists.
Though he currently appears to be slated to serve as the C’s spark-plug sixth man, there’s certainly a chance that he can eclipse current starting one guard, Marcus Smart, should he continue to ball out during these next couple of games in the preseason.
In fact, if his recent comments are any indicator, it would seem as though his intentions are still to gun for that starting nod:
"“Of course, it’s always great to be a starter as well. I think everybody knows that I’m a starter but I mean right here, right now, what we need it whatever coach needs me to do, I’ll do it. I’m a winning person and I’m a team player so at the end of the day, whatever coach is telling me to do and whatever the group thinks is the best, we’re just gonna figure that out.”"
Only time will tell what rookie head coach, Ime Udoka, wishes to do with the 28-year-old but, should he show out through the rest of the preseason, perhaps he could make his way into the starting lineup as soon as week one.
