Boston Celtics: 5 Cs fighting for a rotation spot this preseason

Boston Celtics fighting for a spot in the rotation: Aaron Nesmith
Based on how well he played at the end of last season, Aaron Nesmith has seemingly earned a spot in the rotation. However, he is currently fighting for an even bigger role.
Realistically speaking, if Nesmith plays super well this year, there’s no reason he can’t earn a spot in the starting lineup. His defense and three-point shooting would fit in perfectly next to the rest of Boston’s starters.
He showed out in the Celtics’ first preseason game, nailing a couple of big threes and making some great hustle plays. It was the perfect start to the year for him.
As Udoka begins to test out different lineups, having a player like Nesmith to play around with is ideal for him. If Nesmith keeps this up, he’ll be skyrocketing up the depth chart.
Boston Celtics fighting for a spot in the rotation: Grant Williams
Last season, a lot of fans were disappointed with how Grant Williams played. However, based on what he said at media day this year, he’s focused on having a bounce-back season.
Williams said that he lost a bunch of weight in order to play the four more effectively, and he showed that off in Boston’s first preseason game. He looked a bit skinnier and was super quick.
It seemed as though he was back to making all of the hustle plays he was making in his rookie season. He even managed to knock down a three-pointer, which he needs to be doing in order to get regular minutes.
His pathway to playing time is through great defense and consistent shooting. If he can do both of those things, then he should have a regular spot in the Boston Celtics rotation.
