Boston Celtics player #3 who could be traded before season: Romeo Langford

This one may stir up some negative feelings and forceful responses, but hear me out about Romeo Langford being a trade candidate before the season starts.

Langford has two years left on his rookie-scale deal, but new President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has dealt with the frustration of Langford’s many DNPs due to injury. Perhaps in his switch to the front office he can protect Ime Udoka from that same fate as a head coach who can never use Langford.

The Indiana product has played just 50 games over two seasons, and was even less active this past season than his rookie year. While bad luck is the culprit there, negative feelings can still arise from such a troubled working player-franchise relationship.

Granted, Stevens gave Langford chances when he was in the lineup, even starting him against the Brooklyn Nets this past May. Then again, Jaylen Brown was out when that happened.

A key positional battle with Aaron Nesmith awaits Langford in the preseason. If Langford falls behind a healthy Brown, Nesmith, Josh Richardson, Marcus Smart and (heaven forbid) Sam Hauser for minutes on the wing, Stevens may finally cut the cord on the 2019 lottery pick.
