Trades to bring Karl-Anthony Towns to the Boston Celtics: MIN competes

If Karl-Anthony Towns requests a trade, there are two routes the Timberwolves could go in. They could either reset, rebuild, and get picks, or they could get quality players and try to push for the playoffs.

That second option may sound crazy, but it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. The Wolves have had such little postseason success, that maybe they just want to try to make the play-in.

This trade would give the Timberwolves a bit of youth, but also some players who could help them win right now. Anthony Edwards might not be ready to lead a team to the playoffs yet, but this would give him the tools to do so.

In order to match salary, Al Horford would have to be sent to Minnesota in nearly every trade the Celtics pull off. However, that might not be so bad for Wolves fans.

He’s an experienced center who can hold down the paint for a couple of seasons while they develop young talent. In addition, they would also get Dennis Schroder to be their sixth man.

As for youth, the Wolves would receive Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, and Robert Williams III. Williams III would be the headline of this trade, as he could take over duties at the five.

Minnesota also gets a few picks in return, obviously. They would also send Jake Layman, a Massachusetts native, to Boston in this proposed trade.

If the Timberwolves want to remain competitive after a Towns trade, this is a decent option. From Boston’s perspective, this would be a no-brainer.
