Just when you think you have a clear view on what’s going on in the world of the Boston Celtics, President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens makes a trade or free agent signing that reshapes the entire image.

The 2021 offseason has been a string of shocking surprises that seem to have moved the needle forward after a disappointing 36-36 season that required an NBA Play-in game to even qualify for the postseason.

Stevens has treaded lightly this offseason with the hearts of diehards everywhere, retaining all of his fan-favorite core members and even extending the contracts of Marcus Smart and Robert Williams.

A Ben Simmons trade is not happening anytime soon.

That said, some Cs that some don’t see as rotation members right now could find time on the floor this season. In fact, these 3 Boston Celtics could end up on the team in surprising fashion:

Boston Celtics C Luke Kornet

I had Luke Kornet pegged as a goner several times throughout the end of last season and throughout the offseason.

Still, despite the re-signing of Robert Williams and reintroductions of Enes Kanter and Al Horford into the lineup Kornet found himself resigned to the Cs training camp roster.

Given that his head coach last season was the one who re-signed him this past offseason, Kornet has a legitimate shot at sticking with the team as a stretch-five in 2021-22.

And while his 3-point shooting has taken a nosedive since his first two seasons in the league with the New York Knicks, all it takes is one hot-shooting preseason to get a chance to stick. Just ask Carsen Edwards.
