Boston Celtics TPE target No. 5) Collin Sexton

Of all the players around the league that the Boston Celtics could realistically get with their $9.7 million Tristan Thompson TPE, it’s hard to argue that Collin Sexton wouldn’t be the top grab.

Seemingly since the regular season came to an end, and the Cavaliers missed their third-straight postseason, it has been rumored that Cleveland’s front office is interested in potentially parting ways with their former eighth overall selection, as they are reportedly unwilling to extend him past this coming season.

Over the last several months, the trade rumor mill has undoubtedly been focused on Sexton finding a new home, and many, including ourselves, have thought up ways in which the youngster could ultimately land in eastern Massachusetts.

Quinn, too, believes trading for the 22-year-old would be a move worth making for the C’s front office:

"It’s no secret the Cavs are looking to move Sexton before they have to commit a fair amount of cap to him, earning $6.3 million in 2021-22. There is a legitimate debate to be had as to whether his scoring ability is legit or of the “bad team, empty points” variety, but we feel it a worthy gamble. But if the cost were to drop to the level of a first-round pick and one of Boston’s young talents apart from Aaron Nesmith or perhaps Payton Pritchard, a deal might make sense for both sides."

Coming off of his best statistical season, through 60 games played Sexton posted stellar per-game averages of 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and a steal on 48 percent shooting from the floor and 37 percent shooting from deep.

Not only would the point guard serve as a talented long-term option at the one for the Cs moving forward, but, at his age, he could be a great third building block to develop alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and, in turn, make their future even more promising than it already appears to be.

An absolute dream of a trade target, Collin Sexton must be strongly considered as an option for the Celtics to use one of their two bigger TPEs on.

Verdict: Pursue HARD!

Next. A Ben Simmons trade would be irresponsible. dark
