There are two headline-name floor generals the Boston Celtics should stay away from on the trade market.

That would be Ben Simmons and John Wall.

Simmons is an intriguing facilitator that could run the floor with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but it would probably take Marcus Smart and draft capital to land the 2016 #1 pick.

Hard pass.

Wall, on the other hand, is injury prone and on perhaps the biggest albatross deal in the entire league.

Tarringo Basile-vaughan of Chowder and Champions, Hardwood Houdini’s sister site on the FanSided Network, is out on the potential acquisition of Wall and believes Brad Stevens will be as well:

"If the Boston Celtics learned anything from their dance with both Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker, they should want nothing to do with five-time NBA All Star John Wall.As an aging player in the NBA with declined play, a massive contract and injury history, Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens will stay away from any thought of adding Wall to the mix and he would be smart for doing so."

Smart is the likely starter at the point guard, which was a successful strategy last season before Kemba Walker’s return and COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols ravaged the rotation.

Behind him, Dennis Schroder should see plenty of minutes at the 1. It especially wouldn’t make sense to land Wall at this point in time because Schroder’s expiring contract wouldn’t be able to be used in a deal for several months.

That said, dealing both makes no sense for the Cs, who wouldn’t see enough improvement with Wall in the lineup–if they even see any improvement at all–to propel them into the top tier of the stacked Eastern Conference.

Unless Wall gets bought out, the Boston Celtics won’t be the next home for the former 2010 #1 pick.
