Potential Boston Celtics training camp invite No. 2) James Ennis

Though the backcourt is widely regarded as the weakest rotation for the Boston Celtics heading into this year’s campaign, as odd as it may sound their wing position is not so far behind when it comes to underwhelming areas on the roster.

Now yes, the Cs do have arguably the best wing duo in the entire league in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown which, in turn, may make it a bit perplexing for some to hear us call the position “weak.” That said, due to the talent pool that stands behind them on the depth chart, it really shouldn’t be shocking to see, especially when it comes to their lowly offensive production.

In an attempt to improve this part of the rotation, Boston should consider bringing on some efficient scorers at the position to help bolster their bench point totals, and seventh-year veteran, James Ennis, could be a solid low-cost option to pursue.

Finally getting his shot at a consistent rotation role a few years back, the 31-year-old has turned himself into quite a reliable offensive presence in the league.

Since 2017, per 75 possessions Ennis finds himself averaging 12.1 points and 6.1 boards on 46 percent shooting from the floor and 36 percent shooting from the floor.

Just last season, the wing went about and posted perhaps his best full-season yet, posting averages of 8.4 points and four boards on 47 percent shooting from the floor and 43 percent shooting from deep.

Still available on the open market, there are far worse options to consider than inviting the 6-7 Ennis to training camp later this month.
