The hottest storyline going on in the Boston Celtics universe right now is the rumored interest President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has in Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine.

LaVine is the star of a Bulls franchise that invested big in its lineup this past summer, handing out an excess of $170 million in offseason deals to Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan, who were both handed $85 million deals for three and four years, respectively. He had a career season in 2020-21, averaging 27 points per game, and is an offensive threat from all over the floor.

If Chicago screws up this season and has LaVine looking elsewhere for his next home, the Cs could swoop in and land the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner…

But should they?

His fit next to Jaylen Brown could be a tricky one. His defense leaves a bit to be desired.

And there are better options out there.

Here are 3 stars that make more sense to trade for than Zach LaVine for the Boston Celtics:

Brandon Ingram leaves the Big Easy for Beantown

The Chicago Bulls may be a team that has growing pains in store during the 2021-22 season, but we know the New Orleans Pelicans are already a team that owns them after a season and a half of struggles from the Zion Williamson-Brandon Ingram pair.

Winning hasn’t been plentiful for the Pelicans and if that trend continues, Ingram may end up being more readily available to the Cs considering NOLA will likely want to build around Williamson.
