Boston Celtics trade deadline target #3: Kyle Anderson

When it comes to timelines, Kyle Anderson fits several Cs timelines. The first is from a financial standpoint, where Anderson’s expiring $9.9 million salary fits right in with Brad Stevens’ plan to potentially pursue Bradley Beal next summer.

At the age of 27, he’s also the perfect guy to bring in to establish culture and compete in 2021-22. Anderson is long and switchable at six-foot-nine, and could be the kind of position-less wing that fits well with either Al Horford or Robert Williams in the frontcourt.

Anderson is dense enough to bang in the post but also a smart and willing passer, meaning he could create in big-big pick-and-rolls as well, adding another dynamic to the offense.

Having that sort of facilitation in the lineup could only benefit the C’s multiple 20+ points per game scorers. Anderson’s blue-collar attitude could also be a good tone-setter for Ime Udoka’s first season in charge, especially given their player-coach relationship in San Antonio for four seasons.

Anderson has had a few decent seasons of shooting from beyond the arc and he’s coming off of his second-best shooting season (47/36/76). He’s a target that makes a ton of sense this upcoming season.

Verdict: Pursue
