Boston Celtics PF/C Grant Williams

Grant Williams had a strong connection with Kemba Walker that was broken up by the trade that brought in Al Horford. Another negative side effect of that deal for Williams was Horford pushing him further down the depth chart.

Despite Williams having two years left on his own deal, he may not be a priority due to a lack of a leap in 2020-21. Juan Hernangomez’ arrival really complicates things, considering his best minutes may be spent at the 4.

Considering the tear Stevens is on right now, and as the Brooklyn Nets continue to stockpile talent at a historic rate, he may feel a personal vendetta against the team that ended his coaching career.

The posturing might not be done. If another deal goes down, Williams’ name could potentially be involved. Dennis Schroder wasn’t signed for the team to settle for a low seed again. It’s an all in effort during year one of the Ime Udoka/front office Brad Stevens experience.

Williams and Parker (and/or another player) could potentially net more talent. Minnesota has open roster spots and Jaden McDaniels and Jake Layman could make sense as targets.
