Boston Celtics fans, if you are over the moon about Al Horford being back in the fold, Bleacher Report is here to whip you into an anxious frenzy.

With one guaranteed year left on his contract, Horford is far from a keeper at this point, especially after taking his talents to Philadelphia following the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. That could change quickly with winning, but Horford likely isn’t the next Celtic to land a contract extension after President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens locked down the team’s core this offseason.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley believes the Charlotte Hornets could acquire Horford, who he deemed the worst contract on the Cs.

Check out the potential return for the 35-year-old big man:

"If Boston wanted to unload Horford, the Charlotte Hornets might value his inside-out versatility (which Mason Plumlee) doesn’t offer and the lessons he could teach young bigs P.J. Washington, Kai Jones, Vernon Carey Jr. and JT Thor. A package of Plumlee, Kelly Oubre Jr. and filler might be enough for both teams to see win-win potential in a deal."

Mason Plumlee is redundant on the Boston Celtics, who are already paying Robert Williams to do all of the same job functions (rim protection, pick-and-roll finisher) but Kelly Oubre Jr. is an intriguing option for a Cs team that may lean position-less in spurts given their lineup.

Oubre would be an intriguing small-ball center given his length and 3-point shooting, which should improve after he was miscast in the Golden State Warriors’ lineup in 2020-21.

As for the filler, it may be Boston that would be getting out of some end of the bench commitments, such as Carsen Edwards and Grant Williams, who is a Charlotte native.

Don’t expect a deal like this to happen anytime soon, but it’s one keeping in mind as the 2021-22 season progresses.
