As Tacko Fall’s Cleveland Cavaliers signing has shown us, the NBA offseason is very much still alive. After a busy few months for new Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens, there has been a recent lull…

But that might not last long.

The C’s Summer League run showed that the second unit should be solid, but not every Celtic that participated in Las Vegas proved indispensable this past August.

Payton Pritchard, Aaron Nesmith, Romeo Langford, and even Bruno Fernando all proved that should there be a role available, Boston’s youth could be ready to seize it.

The same can’t be said for others. More on that later.

In addition to the youngins, certain veterans might not be long for Boston either. Last year’s second unit was a weak link, and there are still members of the bench that have yet to prove they can contribute to winning basketball. Or, they have, but didn’t show it so much when the chips were down in 2020-21.

With free agent options still available, HH has come up with 3 potential signings to replace end of the bench Cs ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 season:

Boston Celtics’ Carsen Edwards replacement: Isaiah Thomas

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way. Isaiah Thomas luckily avoided getting picked up by the Los Angeles Lakers, and now the door is open for a return with the coach that took him to unfathomable heights running the front office.

Carsen Edwards’ spot is better off being used by a former MVP candidate whose mere presence will have fans just as rabid as they were when Tacko Fall was checking into the game during garbage time.

His shot just hasn’t been as consistent in the NBA as it was during his days in the Big Ten with Purdue. It could be time to cut bait for a great.
