Saturday December 4, 2021 – @ Portland Trail Blazers

This matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Boston Celtics is certainly one to look out for. With the rumors that Damian Lillard wants a trade floating around, both matchups against the Blazers are ones of interest, but this one taking place in Portland makes it that much more interesting should he get traded to the Cs.

This is strictly hypothetical, especially now that Lillard has come out and said that he’s fine with staying “for now.”

Should the Celtics pull off a trade for him, pairing him up with Jayson Tatum it will make the Celtics once again a legitimate championship contender in the Eastern Conference.

If Lillard were to be traded to the shamrocks prior to the beginning of December, then this would be his first game in Portland where he isn’t donning the black and red.

The dynamic duo of Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum could very well be the best in the NBA.

It would all but guarantee division titles, make them favorites for the conference titles, and would be enough to give any team a run in the NBA Finals.

It would push this game to the national television spot on that Saturday and would build incredible storylines as the season progresses regarding Lillard’s run at a championship, a revenge game for longtime Celtic turned Blazers and would solidify Brad Stevens’ job.

The “for now” comments should be monitored closely.

We could possibly see a scenario unfold that is similar to James Harden’s departure from Houston after just a few games into the season.

It might not happen at all but regardless, since the Boston Celtics were rumored to be a strong destination for Lillard that connection may still be there should he decide that enough is enough and that he wants out of Portland.
