Boston Celtics: 3 underrated “must-see” games in 2021-2022
By Nick Swanson
Monday November 1, 2021 – vs Chicago Bulls
The first matchup against the Chicago Bulls is absolutely one to watch.
As one of Boston’s first home games, it’ll be a must-see and should fill the arena. Not only will it be a fun game to watch because both teams are finally good again at the same time but also because the Bulls had a huge free agency.
The two major moves that the Bulls made were the sign and trades involving New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball and San Antonio Spurs forward DeMar DeRozan, both of whom were rumored to be targets of the Boston Celtics.
Just the fact that the Bulls stole away the two main free agents that the Boston Celtics were pursuing makes a great storyline for the game. Should the acquisitions of Ball and DeRozan help lead the Bulls to the playoffs, it’ll be a big “what if” scenario for the Cs.
The Celtics were rumored to be in on Ball and DeRozan very early in the season if they were to officially hit free agency.
Instead of making those blockbuster signings, the front office went in a different route, extending their young players, signing Dennis Schröder for cheap, and acquiring a familiar face in Al Horford.
Ball is one of the better defensive guards in the NBA and with him unavailable, the Celtics pursued Schröder who, even though he may have fallen off offensively, is still a very good defender.
The firepower that each team has will make this game probably one of the more fun ones of the season.
The theoretical “super team” Bulls going against the Jays and the youthful Celtics core is one of the games that you circle on the calendar.
This is an outing that can set the tone of the season early and will definitely come into play later on in the season as each team is vying for their position in the playoffs.
