Friday February 4, 2022 – @ Detroit Pistons

The reasoning behind this one should be pretty obvious, as this could be the beginning of the renewal of the old Boston Celtics rivalry with the Detroit Pistons.

After the Pistons landed the first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, all eyes were on Motor City.

They have their franchise player of the future, or at least they hope, in Cade Cunningham and a major breakout player from last season in Jerami Grant.

The Pistons have a ton of young talent elsewhere in players such as Saddiq Bey, Killian Hayes, and Isaiah Stewart which will make them a very entertaining team to watch this season.

Getting to see Jayson Tatum and, hopefully, Jaylen Brown back on the court going at Detroit will be a very entertaining game to watch. We could realistically see a Tatum 50-point game with how inexperienced the Pistons are.

The Boston Celtics will also be getting their first taste of Cade Cunningham and the new look Pistons.

Getting to see Dennis Schröder or Marcus Smart pick up Cunningham as he brings the ball up the court would generate quite the battle and would be very entertaining.

Now, Cade Cunningham isn’t the only reason the Pistons are on here.

The center matchup of Robert Williams and Isaiah Stewart should also be very fun as they are two of the better up-and-coming fives in the NBA. In 2020, the Pistons and the Celtics squared off three times which resulted in Detroit winning the season series 2-1.

The Celtics losing to the Pistons in any scenario, regardless of the injuries that have occurred is embarrassing. With how Detroit has played over the last decade, a team as talented as this one should not be losing two games to them in a year.

Once this Celtics team is fully healthy, or at least close to it, it should be a very interesting and fun game to watch.
