Boston Celtics Damian Lillard alternative #2: Reggie Jackson

Reggie Jackson is an even further drop off from Damian Lillard, but he is no longer a questionable role player who can shoot you out of games. Jackson has solidifed himself as a legitimate starter once again after peaking with the Detroit Pistons in 2015-16.

It’s not yet known whether or not he will be in the starting five in Tinseltown, though, considering the recent acquisition of Eric Bledsoe. It’s possible Bledsoe slides into the reserve guard role that the player he is replacing, Pat Beverley, filled.

After seeing Bledsoe start in Milwaukee and New Orleans, and given his bloated salary, it is likely the Clippers reprise his starting role he once had way back when L.A. drafted him and Jackson becomes a sixth man oncemore.

Perhaps that puts the Cs in a position to pounce with a proposal that gives the Clippers a young wing that struggles to find a role (Romeo Langford or Aaron Nesmith) or a versatile tweener big like Grant Williams who could contribute for a team that came within two games of the NBA Finals by utilizing small ball.

Maybe Stevens even offers Schroder for Jackson straight up. Either way, Jackson is a proven sidekick, and the Jays may need one as opposed to an alpha like Damian Lillard.

dark. Next. Is there an NBA roster spot for these 3 Cs FAs?
