Boston Celtics PF Jabari Parker

At this point in his career, injuries have somewhat typecast Jabari Parker into being a pure power forward after doing Paul Pierce-like damage on the wing at Duke.

Robbed of much of his athleticism, Parker isn’t going to be putting players on posters like he used to. He is more likely to hunt for shots in the in-between game, still possessing the ability to hit step-backs and fadeaways in single coverage.

Unfortunately, that kind of play style may not make much sense on this Boston Celtics squad any longer. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the two players that should be given the most isolation sets, but even Al Horford and Dennis Schroder (two likely bench pieces) should be given the opportunity to create before Parker should.

So where does that leave Parker? He is no longer a blue chipper, so prioritizing him over any recent draft pick would be roster mismanagement. Unfortunately, his career has been snake-bitten, and he may not be capable of ever being more than a limited-usage situational player.

Boston has too many potential outside options to settle on a player deemed damaged goods by much of the league.
