It seems as though we are firmly in the “finishing touches” portion of the Boston Celtics offseason.

New President of Basketball Operations and former head coach Brad Stevens has fired up the fanbase with all of his wheeling and dealing, arguably transforming the Cs into a team that could finish in the top half of the Eastern Conference in 2021-22.

While Boston didn’t make as many headline moves as a team like the Miami Heat or even the New York Knicks, there were plenty of smaller transactions that could move the needle forward further than those two teams.

The addition of Al Horford arguably means more to the Cs than it would to any other team, and Dennis Schroder could be motivated enough to surpass Kemba Walker’s production the past two seasons.

While it may be tougher to find a role for the defensively challenged Enes Kanter and the offensively raw Bruno Fernando, Horford, Schroder, and Josh Richardson all have a chance to compete for a starting role.

Now, with these roster positives, come some less fun negatives. As Stevens finalizes his roster for Ime Udoka’s first season in Boston, there will probably be some necessary goodbyes beforehand.

Here are 3 players that could be the next Celtic off the roster:

Boston Celtics PG/SG Carsen Edwards

The Summer League was where Carsen Edwards initially earned his four-year deal, but it may have been where said deal was deemed expendable to Boston’s books.

Edwards’ 2021 Las Vegas run included a 34/28/87 shooting split, with a poor-shooting night during the Summer League Championship game against the Sacramento Kings being somewhat of a nail in the coffin.

If a roster spot needs to be cleared for a last second free agent, Edwards may be the weakest link and easiest cut to justify.
