Romeo Langford will be a defense-first wing and developmental project

While Romeo Langford has shown flashes of being great, he still hasn’t been able to remain consistent in the NBA. The only thing that has been consistent has been his defense.

Langford will be brought on the floor for his solid defense, but also to give him some run to help him develop. He could end up being a solid contributor on both ends if he reaches his full potential.

Aaron Nesmith will be a pivotal 3-and-D wing for the Boston Celtics

Aaron Nesmith got off to a slow start last year, but he ended up becoming a regular part of the rotation. His three-point shooter and hustle defense are going to play a big role on the team this year.

The second-year wing killed it in Summer League and proved that he will be a very quality rotational player this season. The Celtics need big-time contributions from him on defense and behind the three-point line.

Payton Pritchard will be a sharpshooter and tertiary ball-handler

Payton Pritchard burst onto the scene this summer, dominating Summer League and dropping 92 points in a pro-am game. He’ll be one of the best shooters on the C’s this season.

Boston needs Pritchard to knock down his shots and, occasionally, handle the ball when he needs to. Based on how he played this summer, he is more than capable of doing both of those things.

Robert Williams III reprises role as defensive anchor and elite roll man

Robert Williams III has all the talent to be the starting center for the Celtics; he just needs to stay healthy. Regardless, though, he’ll be a defensive anchor for this team, as well as an elite roll option on offense.

The young center will likely improve on both ends of the floor under the guidance of Al Horford. Hopefully, he can stay on the court long enough to play his role well.
