Boston Celtics Summer League takeaway #4: Aaron Nesmith is ready to contribute in 2021-22

You have to be happy with Aaron Nesmith’s Summer League run up to and including the blowout loss in the championship game last night. Nesmith shot the ball well throughout this run at the rim, beyond the arc, and with an improved in-between game.

Nesmith was a reliable option who was unpredictable off the dribble and showed the ability to hit shots at different angles and under pressure. His last week and a half was a continuation to an impressive end of his regular season.

I wouldn’t write off Nesmith gunning for a starting spot in 2021-22, with Josh Richardson perhaps serving as his biggest competition.

Boston Celtics Summer League takeaway #5: Romeo Langford is still a question mark from a health standpoint

It was disappointing to hear that Romeo Langford would be absent from the C’s eventual 100-67 blowout loss, but it definitely wasn’t shocking to see him miss the Summer League title game.

In fact, it gave a familiar feeling of deja vu to most.

Langford hasn’t strung together any long stretch of time without something keeping him out of the lineup. It’s been two years running, and year three looks no different.

We hope things will change. Langford showed flashes of being ready to contribute when he earned a starting role for parts of the Brooklyn series this past postseason.
