Tacko Fall fills a unique niche in the NBA

When it comes to marketable supergiants, a man named Tacko Fall that is seven-foot-six and went to a budding athletic powerhouse in UCF is up there with few peers.

Fall has shown spurts of dominance on the floor, utilizing his size and length to emphatically flush home dunks and swat shots into the stands. As long as his health holds up, there’s no reason why he can’t continue to do that on one of the other 29 teams in the league.

It’s looking increasingly like there won’t be a spot for Fall on the final 17-man roster, with the Cs unlikely to convert his deal to a fully guaranteed standard NBA deal. The signing of his friend back in 2019-20, Enes Kanter, may have been the final nail in the coffin for Fall’s Boston Celtics career.

That said, someone will want to scoop him up for the promotional opportunities alone. Fall is the kind of attraction that could help boost ticket sales for a team’s G-League team, and though it’s cringy as could be, it’s not hard to imagine LeBron James making Tacko Tuesday jokes after a Los Angeles signing would probably inspire plenty of memes about Fall being the next great Laker big man.

Fall is a unique entity, and there will be a spot for him so long as he keeps up his promising small-spurt contributions.
