Boston Celtics possible starting lineup #4: Dennis Schroder, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Robert Williams

The chances are high that Ime Udoka tries to get the most that he could out of a Marcus Smart-Dennis Schroder backcourt, for better or for worse.

At the far end of the better spectrum is an extremely high ceiling that would cause every backcourt in the NBA to dread games at the TD Garden or with the Celtics in the visitors’ locker-room.

Robert Williams represents a lob threat to both of Boston’s best passers in this proposed arrangement.

Boston Celtics possible starting lineup #5: Dennis Schroder, Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford

This lineup is the heaviest on veterans and experience, and would probably be the most likely to close games on any given night. Dennis Schroder, Marcus Smart, and Al Horford is a highly-skilled passing trio, providing a good complement to the firepower of the Jays in the scoring department.

Imagining Horford and Schroder making their way to the Cs seemed not likely not long ago, but Brad Stevens has been as sly as possible in creating a possible short-term contender without clogging the cap for future offseasons.

This lineup is living proof that a ton can happen in any given offseason.
