Former lottery-pick target for Boston Celtics No. 2) Denzel Valentine

Outside of the point guard position, the next spot on the rotation that needs major bolstering is, surprisingly, the wing position.

Yes, perhaps a bit shocking to hear considering the best players on the Boston Celtics are All-Star wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but a team is a lot more than just two players and behind these talents, the position is quite barren.

Bringing on someone who can come in and play both ends of the ball whilst giving Tatum and/ or Brown a rest on the bench should be a top priority for the front office this summer, and a low-cost option could be fifth-year veteran, Denzel Valentine.

A versatile playmaker, the forward may not have top-tier upside but his floor is rather elevated, which could bode well for a bench unit that could use a bit of everything.

Over the past three seasons that Valentine has played, the 27-year-old finds himself posting averages of 8.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on nearly 36 percent shooting from the floor.

Prior to missing the entirety of the 2018-19 season, we saw the former 14th overall selection finally showing flashes of being a solid rotational player, as he posted 10.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists a night whilst shooting 38.6 percent from deep on 4.8 attempts per game during his sophomore campaign.

As stated earlier, bolstering the wing rotation should be viewed as a top priority for the Boston Celtics prior to next season.

Already missing out on other versitile options such as Otto Porter Jr. and Justise Winslow, perhaps nabbing Valentine on a cheap deal could prove to have a similar impact on the team’s depth.
