Free-agent big man Boston Celtics could pursue with MLE #1: Paul Millsap

Throughout the past four years, Paul Millsap served as a reliable frontcourt sidekick to Nikola Jokic, who has become an MVP over that time span as one of the best players regardless of position in the entire NBA. The Nuggets became a perennial postseason entry during that time-span, and even reached the Western Conference finals down in the Lake Buena Vista bubble for the 2020 postseason, losing to the eventual NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers.

When Denver landed Aaron Gordon right before the 2021 trade deadline, Millsap’s time in Denver was on the clock. Their re-signing of JaMychal Green to a decent-sized deal was the nail in the coffin for the Millsap-Mile High connection.

Now, Millsap sits on the free-agent scrap heap with a chance of reuniting with a frontcourt mate he had even more success alongside Al Horford. The new (and former) Celtics center and Millsap did great things together while with the Atlanta Hawks. While no one expects them to play at that level, even doing so in spurts could be a huge boon for a Boston lineup in the trenches come playoff time.

All it would take to get it done would be the MLE.
