Boston Celtics reunion #2 we could see: Brad Wanamaker

Celtics fans probably never knew how much they’d miss Brad Wanamaker until he was gone to the Golden State Warriors and replaced with Jeff Teague. Teague didn’t survive the season in Beantown, being released mid-season before joining the Milwaukee Bucks and riding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s coat-tails to the NBA Championship. And that’s no personal knock on Teague either considering most of that Bucks team did the same thing.

Regardless, seeing Wanamaker almost match his stat total for the Charlotte Hornets after an uneven stint with the Warriors probably gave some fans FOMO after probably not dedicating a ton of thought to the backup PG when he was in green.

He’s back on the market after signing a short-term deal last offseason, and it’s never seemed more possible to see him return after just a year away considering how Brad Stevens is building his first roster as a front office member.

Wanamaker would be a nice hand to have for Payton Pritchard, who missed the guidance Wanamaker gave to Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters in their rookie seasons in 2019-20.

He (begrudgingly) might be the most realistic point guard to return to Beantown during the 2021 offseason.
