According to a recent Bleacher Report story, Bradley Beal is considering requesting a trade, and one of his preferred destinations is the Boston Celtics.

While Beal has stated multiple times that he wants to stay in Washington — and post-NBA Draft rumblings echo this sentiment –, after a Lakers-Wizards deal for Russell Westbrook was agreed to last night, it seems to be only a matter of time until Washington and Beal mutually agree to part ways.

The story indicates that the All-Star’s list of preferred destinations consists of four teams in total: Miami, Golden State, Philadelphia, and, as mentioned before, Boston.

While a trade for Bradley Beal would be great for the Cs, obviously the price needs to be right.

WIth Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both under contract for multiple years and still very young, there isn’t a rush to win now so mortgaging the entire future for Beal isn’t really necessary, especially when it comes to including Brown in any such deal.

With that being said, how good of an offer can the Boston Celtics really give to the Wizards compared to his other preferred destinations if they don’t include Brown?

Today, we try to answer that question:

Ideal Bradley Beal trade package for the Boston Celtics

Basically, if the Boston Celtics don’t want to include Brown in a deal for Beal, they have to give up a ton of picks, young players, and some of their best role players.

From the C’s perspective, this deal makes sense if they feel that Bradley Beal is the missing piece to make the roster legitimate title contenders.

On the surface, a Big-3 of Tatum, Beal, and Brown seems legit, but in order to be true title contenders Brad Stevens would have to be creative with filling out the rest of the roster given how much salary would be distributed among those three.

While it would hurt to give up Smart, all of the other players in the deal wouldn’t be huge losses for the team in the short-term.

The three young players in the trade really haven’t had enough time to prove they can play significant minutes for a championship contender, so including them in a win-now move is a necessary sacrifice.

From the perspective of the Wizards, this deal makes sense if they like the idea of getting both expiring contracts and young players along with a bunch of picks.

Considering Marcus Smart’s skillset, many contending teams would be willing to give away even more picks to the Wizards in exchange for Smart, either later in the offseason or near the trade deadline.

Essentially, while the Wizards may not necessarily want solid veteran players who are more helpful to contending teams, they can use those players to get even more picks.

While that trade package for Beal is solid, let’s now compare that assortment of players to what other teams would be willing to offer for Beal, starting with the Miami Heat.
