Free-agent Boston Celtics should heavily pursue No. 3) Victor Oladipo

Perhaps the most perplexing free agent storyline this summer is that of former All-Star, Victor Oladipo, and the concept of where he may wind up coupled with how much he may be able to sign for on the open market.

These past few years have seen an unfortunate outbreak of bites from the injury bug for the guard, and this past year was no different.

Viewed as a legitimate franchise building block just a few short years back, in 2020-21 Oladipo found himself suiting up for three separate franchises — Indiana, Houston, and, most recently, Miami, where his campaign was ultimately cut short due to a knee injury that required season-ending surgery.

Because of this recent ailment and the fact that he has only managed to play in 85 total regular-season games over the last three years, the bidding war for the fallen star could be rather bleak this offseason and, in turn, could lower his desired salary considerably.

Though perhaps unfortunate for Oladipo, this could actually prove to work out rather well in Boston’s favor.

Despite having a “down” season last year, the 29-year-old is still found himself posting solid all-around averages of 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

His ceiling is still high even with his declining star status but, in truth, this latter part could actually end up boding well for the cash-strapped shamrocks.

Already predicted to sign with the Boston Celtics by the folks at Bleacher Report, the idea of Oladipo heading to Beantown is nothing new.

Buying-low on the guard could be a great move to make this summer and, frankly, it could be a great fit for Victor Oladipo as well given the team’s need for a bit of everything heading into 2021-22.
