First-round talent the Boston Celtics could draft No. 3) Sharife Cooper

Speaking of players the Boston Celtics may have to trade up in the second-round for…

To this point, the players we’ve mentioned are those we believe have a rather realistic shot of sliding down to the 45th spot on the board and, in turn, could end up falling perfectly into the C’s lap.

When it comes to a player like Sharife Cooper, however, yes we believe he’s also a first-round talent that could end up slipping to round two, but he’s almost certainly going to wind up being a top-five or top-10 selection on this front which, in turn, puts him out of Boston’s reach where they currently stand.

Nevertheless, it is possible to move up in the draft to try and acquire him and, unless the asking price becomes way too high, we believe it may be a great idea for Stevens to try and do so.

During his one-and-done season with the Auburn Tigers, Cooper proved to be an absolute menace on the offensive side of the ball.

A crafty creator for both himself as well as for others, the SEC All-Freshman Team selectee posted impressive averages of 20.2 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Unfortunately for him, however, despite these numbers his underwhelming size (6-1), putrid shooting clips (39 percent from the field; 22.8 percent from deep), and small sample size (12 games played) all could prove to have major impacts in a negative manner when it comes to front offices being interested in taking him in round one.

That said, without these reasonings mentioned above, he wouldn’t be on this list and, in turn, (assuming they’d be interested in drafting him) it would be a lot more difficult for the Boston Celtics to try and reinsert themselves back into the first-round rather than trying to move on up in the second.

Sharife Cooper could prove to be one of the biggest steals in this year’s draft should he fall to round-two and, if he does, the Boston Celtics should do everything within reason to try and nab him.
